An iconic 7-mile race course which has tested racers' skills as well as their fitness since the early 1990's.  Rocky, steep, fast, and at times scary.  First lap climbs Lake Marie Road on doubletrack and Bayleaf Trail before joining the singletrack at Buckeye trail at mile 1.5.  It continues climbing for approximately two more miles, passes a water station at Lake Marie, continues around the lake on Chaparral Trail, descending Marie Creek Trail to Fig Tree, continues mostly downhill on Manzanita Trail and down the legendary "waterfall" rock steps before returning to the Start/Finish area.  Laps Two and Three head straight for the challenging singletrack climb up Buckeye Trail.  Racers will find numerous opportunities to test their technical ability on the course's many rocky sections and wring out their legs on the many steep climbs.
